I had never heard of La Machine before so I had no clue what to expect. But I definitely did not expect to see a 46 ton fire-breathing, smoke puffing, dragon-horse (Long Ma) made of wood and steel parading along the Olympic stadium in Beijing. Add an enormous 20 foot tall spider, fire, snow, smoke, sound effects and a live orchestra on a hydraulic lever and you have a spectacle that is hard to forget or describe with words. French production company La Machine have prepared this mesmerising show to celebrate the 50th anniversary of French-Chinese diplomatic relations. If you missed it this time, make sure it never happens again!
