On one of my bike rides, I came across one of my favourite topics: baby ducklings!
Squeaky brakes and a firm jump immediately brought me at duck level.
Moments like these must be taken advantage of, as baby ducks have a busy schedule and are gone before you know it.
Indeed...not so long after my arrival they decided to move on.
Just when I was about to leave, I noticed that the departing ducks were immediately replaced with fresh new duck stuff.
With renewed enthusiasm, I slumped back into the nettles.
And so it went: whenever the duck party seemed to be over, new downy chick material was submitted.
It seemed like a kind of reverse Bermuda Triangle: Not the place where everything disappears into nothingness, but the Place Where Baby Ducks Emerge.
During this shoot, I was vaguely aware of a fairly strong present rumble.
Probably some kind of motorized farm equipment, in one of the neighbouring meadows.
At least not anything that could distract me from these adorable ducklings.
Until I looked up briefly and noticed that this sonorous hum was caused by a meters high and equally wide cloud of thousands of mosquitoes
Aaaaah, that 's why Ducklings of All Ditches were united here;
A true Ducktopia with an infinite source of flying snacks!
And a true Photopia with an infinite source of cuteness!
Not that I got it for free: Like consummate little Jesuses, they ran across the water to gulp insects from the air.
Just try to keep that.
Baby ducklings accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 0.01 second and are able to make a 180 degree turn, without any notice.
Which is a little too much, even for my fairly sophisticated autofocus system.
But oh what fun we had and at least I tried to perpetuate this ADHD cute overload ....
